MEDICAL SERVICES FACILITIES IN KARLUWAY DISTRICT
Health care is a major challenge in this region. The few facilities that existed prior to the civil war were totally destroyed. The closest facility is about 50 – 75 miles away. Transportation is almost nonexistent; if it is available, it is not affordable.
Sick children, pregnant women, and older and young people are carried by foot for medical treatment. In most cases, pregnant women gave birth by the roadside and at times other sick people expire before arrival at the medical center.
Membership and Volunteer Opportunities
Members of KDA receive E-mail news bulletins, semi-annual newsletters, and have opportunities to meet others who care about KARLUWAY to promote peace, and health development.
Members are also encouraged to volunteer/guide a project, to raise funds for KDA in their communities, and/or to steer corporate and foundation support to the organization.
If you would like to get involved but are not sure how, please email us a description of your connection to KDA, your ideas, and your talents. We can put you in touch with members who have similar backgrounds and interests and/or who live in your area.
