HEALTH CARE AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FACILITIES IN KARLUWAY STATUTORY DISTRICT
Health care is a significant problem in this region. The few infirmaries that existed prior to the civil war were destroyed. The closest is about 50 – 75 miles away.
Transportation is almost nonexistent. If it is available, it is not affordable. Sick children, pregnant women, and older adults are carried by foot for medical treatment. In most cases, pregnant women gave birth by the roadside, and sometimes other sick people expire before arrival at the medical center
Karluway Development Association’s (KDA) goal is to help improve the lives and living conditions of all people regardless of culture, religion, and tribal affiliations. KDA in the United States and elsewhere in the world are arduously working toward the completion of a 10-room medical facility in Karluway. KDA members and friends of KDA have and continue to contribute to this project.
